His stomach felt quisy, his face burned. He heard her voice again.
“You’re too late, Ekko…”
Was that the first time she said his actual name in over two years?
But instead of making his heart throb like it used to, the sound of her voice made it break.
Then she pulled the pin one more time,
“WAIT!”
Jinx’s body was torn apart one more time
Was it? Was it too late?
NO.
NO. IT. WASN’T.
If she could pull the pin over and over again, recklessly, then he could pull the Z-Drive just as many times.
And more.
He could still read her mind after all those years.
He could still dance along.
Time turned again. And they were back were they started. Her body put back together, her flesh still attached to her bones –her beautiful, beautiful bones.
Ekko took a moment to lean on the handrail nearby and draw a breath.
“Always a dance with you” He panted out, feeling nauseous and short of breath.or...

His legs were trembling and his body felt limp. His stomach was in knots and he was sure he might throw up at any giving moment. He wasn't sure if it was a side-effect of time traveling or if had more to do with the fact his nostrils were filled with the smell of burning flesh –her burning flesh– and smoke after witnessing her blow herself up time and time again. h
The sole thought made his stomach turn again.

Carmen lets silence take over for a second time, clinging to it to try and ease the erratic beating of his heart pounding inside his head. Once he’s steady enough, he breaths all his dread in, feasting in his own misery – an old friend of his, anyway. There are worse acquaintances to make.
He has developed this defense mechanism in which he manipulates himself into believing it can always be worse than it already is; - if his business partner – who, by the way has just recently started trusting him again after the number he put her up to – is now going out on dates for a change, leaving at a perfectly reasonable hour while continuing to meet – exceed in her position as CDC, exposing an overly-enthusiastic attitude towards the subject of, well, dating a mystery guy who drives a fucking Volvo, it can always get worse. He’s just struggles to find a worse scenario. -

"It had been good to hear her voice again.
The sound of it had fluttered in his stomach, and the familiarity of the sensation made him feel warm. She sounded same-old Rachel and it was until then that Joey realized how much he had actually missed to talk to her. There had always been something about her – this ability she had to turn any unimportant occasion into a major event; it never felt like a real accomplishment until he got to celebrate it with her. That had been how the news of his guest-starring in Crime File had him smiling and jumping like a little kid in Gina’s kitchen. It had been nice to know that at least that part had remained unchanged between the two of them. That regardless of the years – and the yearning – it still felt so natural to share the great moments with Rachel. It sorta’ felt like being back at home again.
As the conversation started, Joey couldn’t help but wonder why he had waited so long to call them in the first place. He had feared it would trigger old emotions, but he found himself feeling a little less isolated from home; as if he had been incomplete the last seven months until then.
