    Maybe it's Graves' need for that control as well that explains why Phoenix hadn't brought it up sooner. He knew Graves was, at his heart and soul, scared. Phoenix is good at reading people like that. Graves needs to be in control, needs to know what's going on at all times, in order to feel safe. Why, Phoenix isn't quite sure yet, but he's been more than happy to let Graves have what he needs.

    Phoenix also knows, though, that some loss of control is good for Graves. There have always been issues with making himself vulnerable, so Phoenix has decided to take all of the hard work out of it like he’s always happy to do.

    The pattern repeats every morning. Lo'ak leaves the marui to be with Payakan and a piece of Neytiri's heart follows him. And when Tuk hops off on the marui path to go find her friends it happens again. Kiri too takes a part of it as she goes out to swim on the reef. Jake snags what remains as he steps out.

    And all that Neytiri can do is watch them go, and train her bow arm. And to her fury Spider is ever present in the corner of her eye - learning the Metkayina way from Ronal; a woman that Neytiri dislikes.

    She hates the feeling of seeing him so happy with her. Hates his freedom. The back of her ears begin to burn. Her fingers start to twitch. Her chest starts to hurt more than her bow arm. And she feels such fury. It's worse than before and more intense by the day - unwavering and inexplicable.

    Stan's hand was moving before he could think better of it, wanting to touch the pleated navy skirt in front of him. God, it looked so soft, it must feel amazing. The whispered drag across his thighs -

    “What’re you doin’?”

    Stan’s hand froze, looking up at Richie’s unfocused gaze. No aide of glasses to let him see Stan’s heating face in the low light.

    “Nothing.”

    Richie’s eyes squinted, trying to make out the shapes around him until he looked to where Stan’s hand still hovered. The small inhale and grin let Stan know he didn’t need his vision clear to figure out what was going on. He always did know Stan too well.

    “You’d look pretty in that.”
