In which Atem, the Crown Prince of Egypt, sick of being controlled by his father, sneaks out of the palace at night and ends up in a brothel, where he meets Yugi.
Yugi doesn’t recognize the prince, but he is very intrigued by him when Atem offers a gem the color of his eyes as payment for his services.
Atem is likewise interested in Yugi, but he doesn’t realize Yugi cannot be bought.

At the start hadn’t even been aware that he was doing it, but ever since that first meeting, he had kept an eye out for him.
Gon would lean against the railing of the boat on summer afternoons, eyes following the waves, trying desperately to spy a glimpse of that hair below the surface, or the sliver shine of his tail against the sun.
On late nights when he couldn’t sleep, he would open his little port window and stick his head out. The wind would be harsh, it would wake him up and keep his eyes sharp. And he would look. He would search.

Gon has spent his teen years sailing the seas as a pirate and searching for his father. When his captain decides they’re going to hunt down something that belonged to him - an infamous treasure no one has ever seen before, or is even sure is real - he thinks this might be his chance to find him.
But just as they begin their quest, he runs into a very familiar looking boy.
And now, everything is a lot more interesting.

Summary
Everyone now knows there is evil afoot and war waiting on the horizon, but the identity of their enemy is still a mystery. If that was not enough for riders Atem and Yugi to worry about, they also find themselves navigating royal life and events along with their Guard duties. And on top of all of that, they have growing young dragons to care for, and their own fledgling bond to nurture along with them.
Yugi and Atem find themselves working to solve the many mysteries that seem to be popping up around them at every turn. Who is attacking their kingdom? Why? What does any of this have to do with prophecies and things that happened over a thousand years ago? And just how did two chosen riders end up bonded to each other?
They don't know yet. But they'll do anything to figure it all out while fighting a war that threatens everything they love.

Only Keith knows that the article is about himself. Any article, really. All forms of news. Every report on the Lone Star Shadow, America's newest serial killer, is about Keith Kogane, and no one else knows.
However, Lance is determined to change that, one investigation at a time.
