“Oh,” he whispers. “Oh my god.” Something inside of his body expands and contracts. Out in the distance he can hear his brain frying. “I think I’m having a stroke,” He says, voice faint.
“The drama,” Julia drawls even as her brows wrinkle, concerned. “You okay?”
Q stares at Eliot, who after a moment glances over and raises an eyebrow at him. How does he always catch him staring? Q looks away, clears his throat. “Yea. This doesn’t change anything.”
Turns out, this changes everything.

“What is it that you’re trying to do here?” Eliot's words are tinged with good natured amusement; that should put Quentin on the defensive. Instead, his whole body relaxes, reacting to Eliot’s calm, steady scent, the slight rumble of his voice.
He leans toward Eliot, eyes wide, inhaling deeply and stifling the whine that starts to rise in his throat. Jesus fuck. Quentin is a hormonal nightmare. He shouldn’t be allowed in any public space. Ever. But certainly not within a few weeks of his heat. Jesus.
“Um. I’m—strawberry patch. The landscape fabric—”
A grin spreads across Eliot’s face, and Quentin just gives up. He can’t be expected to form a complete thought when he’s just the right height to focus on Eliot’s collarbones, his eyes wandering to the scent gland on Eliot’s right side, which—barely there, just a slightly darker patch of skin—sits just above the collar of his shirt. He takes a deep breath and lets it out, trying not to do what he wants to do, which is whine, bury his face against Eliot’s neck, beg Eliot to hold him and scent him and make him smell like that.
But Quentin is a person, and Eliot is a person, and they’re both people, and Quentin can function, for fuck’s sake.

Summary
The night the Physical Kids’ Cottage burns down, Quentin is alone in his room, sulking. He could have been at the party downstairs. He’d been invited to the party downstairs. But ever since the... incident with Eliot, things have been weird between them. Quentin hadn’t wanted to mope around the edges of the room and pine for simpler days. And so he’s alone, forced to escape through his bedroom window, as the magical flames tear the Cottage down to the studs.
In the aftermath, Quentin, Eliot and the other Physical Kids are left to pick up the pieces, both literally and metaphorically, of what happened that night. And in Quentin’s case, of what happened months earlier, when he’d humiliated himself and lost the closeness of the most important friendship of his adult life.
Luckily, even if things can never go back to the way they were, that doesn’t mean they can’t be fixed. And in the meantime, there’s a shortage of bedrooms on campus in the absence of the Cottage...

Summary
Alec has spent most of his life hiding.
That's just the way things have always been. From a young age he knew he had to hide to keep himself safe, because there were people out there who would hurt him just for being born the way he was. To keep his secret, Alec has done his best to hide away the parts of himself he can't risk letting anyone see, only letting that part of himself out in the late night hours when no one's around and he can take to the skies. It's the only place he's ever felt free.
All that changes one night when Alec happens to misjudge a storm and finds himself crash landing on Magnus Bane's rooftop.
