Summary

Azriel has heard them all before, whispered amongst humans, etched in ancient rock and scrawled in modern tomes. When he was young, he snuck such a book into his cell after a visit with his mother. He read it over and over, until the words began to swim and darkness stole them away entirely, then he dreamt about it, about being a soft-bellied human worthy of aid, about a fae coming to him and offering freedom from his confines.

Always through the ruins of what had once been sanctuary, scrambling over splintered beams and shattered walls, soles torn open on jagged glass until the skin was a wet, searing mess beneath him. The sting of each cut barely registered—just one pain among hundreds, drowned beneath the roar of adrenaline.
And always, always, the smoke.
This story is full of triggers, sensitive topics and a shit load of typos. I am currently writing the first book of my fantasy series (@OliveRJensen on Wattpad) and about to go back to college so please bear with me if updates are late, though I do hope to have one at least once a week.
