The shadow walks forward, wreathed in smoke. As clean as a sword stroke he cleaves the smog in two to reveal a face imprinted on Gin’s brain: sleek black hair dripping into white bandages, a knowing smirk, the flapping of a purple yukata like the wings of the butterflies dyed in gold that he wears. “So you finally opened your eyes.”

The wind must have announced his presence, must have alerted her most loyal guardian, for he hasn’t even lifted his hand to knock when the door swings open and there he stands. Hands in pockets, hip slightly cocked, the waves of jet black hair closer to a more familiar length. But it’s the twinkle in those curving eyes that feels the most surreal, a gut punch into a past that feels a lifetime ago from now, on the porch of Dong-sik’s old family home.

Jeonghan shifts his weight as one of the ladies lowers her fan and Soonyoung’s stomach nearly drops right out of him. Before him, dignified in his well-cut bottle green naval coat decorated with his newly awarded medal, is none other than Lee Seokmin, his once childhood friend.
Where Seokmin as a youth had been gangly and flighty, his face at once too large for his skinny frame, he now holds himself with the squared shoulders of a captain, his features appearing as if they have been carved from marble by a loving artist. His high cheekbones catch the shine of the grand chandelier that hangs over the dance floor, crystal sparkling across skin honey brown like his companion’s, and Soonyoung is almost doubled over by the sudden ache in his breast.

Summary

That young Skywalker is known around town as a widower and homesteader; a Nabooian who emigrated to avoid the trade blockade; a father of overly-energetic twins and warding a Togruta war orphan; a decent mechanic if your farm equipment or maintenance droid is acting up.
Anakin is a paranoid, over-protective hot mess doing his best to raise his weird pack the way Padmé would have wanted. How the hell is he supposed to do that when his kids and not-apprentice make him haul a half-dead Jedi Master home like a lost pet?
