Summary

Fair warning: this fic is pretty much divorced from canon in terms of characters. But if you want cool Stand powers and deconstructions of canon/fanpart tropes, then you’ve come to the right fic.

This was supposed to be Enjoh’s year—the year he finally dropped what he was carrying and let himself be free. A New Year's road trip across the country would help him find the freedom they were looking for.
But the moment he meets a gun-toting, not-right-in-the-noggin cryptid enthusiast, things get complicated. Sure, he had a power of his own, but the more weird, outlandish, impossibly bizarre creatures and people he finds along the way, the farther the trip detours from where it was going in the first place.
Above all, he hated that a cross-country goose chase for the fake, the fiction, and the dreamed-up seemed like a road he'd already traveled.
