The fun house amazed to get you lost inside so you're always stuck staring at the monster and your memories. The person you could have been if you had made a different choice, and the person you are because you can't change the past. You cannot change your story. You've always been part of it.
The cough started simply. Innocent. Just around when allergies ramp all the way up so it was easy to brush it off. Just another part of regular allergies, not something terrible and consuming, plotting as it works its way through your body. An infection so intrinsic to human nature, it has so many names. It's also a new revelation. A new terrible thing. Your own love turned against you, reflected in the worst possible way as it wraps its way through your lungs and your ribs and up your chest. As it chokes out your organs, as they try so hard to work.
