Vash rests one knee on the bed as he leans over, thumbing aside damp hair to check Legato’s temperature. The backs of his fingers brush against an old scar. A remnant of their last big fight, of Vash’s unwilling bullet and the instinctive flick of Legato’s threads that managed against all odds to keep him alive.
A small furrow appears between Legato’s brows at the touch. “Is there something you require of me?”
“You invaded my mind first.” Vash lightly knocks their foreheads together. “Weirdo.”
Legato has a bad pain day. Vash does what he can to help.

“You’re a good looking guy,” Vash says, adjusting Legato’s grip so it’s higher up. Closer to his ribs than his hips. “Surprised no one’s asked you to dance. You were kinda awkward about accepting, though. Don’t tell me I’m your first?”
Legato doesn’t put himself in situations where strangers might have an excuse to touch him. If he enters a saloon after nightfall, it’s to eat. Not to mingle with desperate sweaty humans eager to rut against their intoxicated companions. But Vash is aware of this already.
“The average person has better self-preservation instincts than you do.” Legato throws a glance at the lethargic few who have yet to turn in for the night, scattered at the bar and slumped over dark sticky tables. “And I was asked. Twice. I turned them down.”
“Third time’s the charm.” Vash slips his arms around Legato’s neck in a casual, languid way that’s too relaxed to not be purposefully so. “Lucky me.”

Summary
After a run-in with humans gone horribly wrong, Knives is sold off to a plant engineer who needs a new power source for his town and has other, more sinister, motivations.
Legato, having successfully freed himself from slavery and slaughtered his abusers, now seeks out slavers and settlements that support them and makes them pay for their crimes.
Eventually, he rescues Knives, and the two begin the arduous process of helping each other heal.

When Auror Potter is anonymously cursed with silence by being forced to hide his own voice inside his mind, there's unfortunately only one person in the country with the qualifications to fix it: Certified and Licensed Healer Legilimens, Draco Malfoy, specialist in Mind Curses and Afflictions. It's obviously a terrible idea, a disaster waiting to happen, but Draco's never been able to back down from a challenge... especially from Potter.
Features fuzzy cartoon slippers, devious house elves, 90s music, and lots—LOTS—of memories. Ron is annoyingly hot, Hermione sees right through you, Harry is a powerful idiot, and Draco is a reclusive masochist that would buy an entire city if it would make a kid happy. (And Pansy is "5'2, I wanna dance with you, and I'm sophisticated fun.")
