“We are the Heroes of tomorrow,” Izuku says, a smile curling his lips, a thrumming in his ears. The crowd has gone silent around him. It's almost eerie, the way the stadium itself seems to hold its breath.
“And we are going to change the world,” Izuku breathes the words, a certainty, a declaration, a promise. “So watch out," Izuku leans into the microphone. Leveling the camera with narrowed eyes, his smile nothing more than teeth. "Because here we come.”

"I'm Spider-Man." He murmured this to the ceiling tiles, almost like he was testing out the words, though he knew Hank would hear. It felt like ripping off a Band-Aid. No, more exposed than that. It felt like ripping off his underwear. It felt like doing a bench-press, lifting up the weighted bar and then just...holding it up there, waiting to see if it would fall.
It felt like an hour before Hank responded. "I know," he said quietly.

Toothless nudged my side. Using his snout, he flipped me over, so that the formerly hidden part of my leg was now exposed to him. He stomped his paw on the small of my back, and hot air brushed against my sensitive skin.
This time, I was ready. As his tongue scraped against my flesh, I buried my face deep into my pillow and screamed. But while I did that, I didn’t push him away. I didn’t try to stop him.
It made sense, now that I thought about it, for dragons to have some sort of anti-burn and anti-pain agent in their saliva. They must have flamed each other all the time, or maybe even themselves by accident. And I saw no reason why it wouldn’t work on me if it did on them.
At least, I told myself that was the reason I was putting myself through this.

“I can stand,” Izuku insists, coughing a little. His throat feels dry, and the steam can only dampen the air he’s breathing, not soothe the thirst. “I can do it.”
Ochako’s tone doesn’t leave anything up for discussion. “I didn’t ask if you could do it. We all know you could do anything if you really wanted to. We know you’re strong, Deku, you don’t have to show us.”
Izuku laughs, feeling hollow. “I’m not strong.” Shouto tenses slightly at his side, but before he can say anything, Izuku closes his eyes and shakes his head. “Please,” he says. He’s not sure if it comes out as a request or a plea. “Don’t tell me how strong I am.”

Now he’s home. His best friends are helping him be clean again. There’s food to be eaten when he’s done. There’s tomorrow, but he’s trying not to think about it. He hurts somewhere inside, and he doesn’t hurt where Shouto is touching him, and he doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t know what to say. He hasn’t — he and Shouto haven’t even talked about how he left, about the letter, there hasn’t been a resolution, nothing even near what he’d had with Kacchan earlier — and even that wasn’t resolution, wasn’t closure, even if it’s the closest he’s ever gotten to when it comes to Kacchan.
Izuku is so ashamed. He’s so sorry. He’s so, so sorry.

It’s a familiar feeling, being lifted up by Luther and tossed around like he weighs nothing (to Luther he certainly does), it was a favorite move of Luther’s as a child. Nostalgia is not what Five feels, he’s too busy flailing as Luther throws him over the railing.
