    In her palm lay a smooth, black stone, perfectly round, golden tendrils like lightning bolts racing across the surface.
    Arthur raised his eyebrows.
    “It’s…lovely.”
    The old woman held the stone out to the prince. As he reached for it, she seized his wrist with her other hand, forcefully pushing the stone into his palm. Startled, Arthur tried to yank his hand away but she held firm.
    “It is for luck, sire.” Her gaze transfixed the prince, and he could neither move nor speak. “May it bring you the fortune you deserve.”

    A mysterious gift leads Arthur into a fight for his life.
