Summary
Max is the youngest driver to ever compete in F1. But also the first ever to be an Omega on the grid (At least, of the open ones. Some could've been taking blockers like him). He had it drilled into him by his father that he was a disgrace for his secondary gender, and he must hide it from everyone to not bring shame to the Verstappen name. He was told many times that all the alphas on the grid would swarm him if he ever came off those blockers. And that was what he believed would happen.
So, why the fuck is he so confused now?

Summary
In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when someone gets too close, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.
OR: The 2025 rookies get attached to Max very quickly, pulling him into grid pack dynamics. Unfortunately, Max was cut from the pack in 2015 by Lewis and he still doesn't accept him. Now that Max is getting closer again, the grid is starting to notice something is very wrong with him.

Inside sources have confirmed that the victim of the incident at the Austin GP on Sunday night was in fact reigning world champion Max Verstappen. Reports were made at 23:18 that night stating that ambulances and police cars with full sirens entered the Formula 1 paddock and attended to a seriously injured patient who was subsequently airlifted to the nearest hospital for immediate treatment. Both Red Bull and the FIA have yet to make any statement regarding the incident and further details have not been provided at this time...
Charles slams his phone down against the table, suppressing the urge to rip his own hair out. He can hear Christian yelling down the phone on the other side of the door, no doubt angering the nurses and other medical personnel just trying to do their jobs.

Summary
Max has been in love with Charles Leclerc for as long as he can remember... It was easy to hide though. He just pretended he hated him. He didn't really hate him though, but he did annoy him. Why did the boy with the green eyes stir feelings in him that he didn't understand?
After a rough first few years in F1, Max tried to befriend Charles, but kept his true feelings to himself. Not just because being gay in a male dominated sport was tricky and his father had 'strong' opinions on it, but because he was convinced Charles would never feel the same way about him. Charles was always surrounded by the most beautiful girls. The man was a people magnet. Loved by everyone. Max was the exact opposite. His bluntness and brutal honesty getting him into trouble more than once.
So Max decided that if he could have Charles as his friend, that would be enough and he kept his feelings to himself.
Until a huge bombshell is dropped on the F1 world....
