Dan Heng looked at Blade's profile in the dimming light.
"Does your body remember?" he wanted to ask. "Is that why you're not shivering? Is that why this feels like something you've done before?"
He didn't ask.
Blade's eyes were on the water, his expression distant in the way it went when he was somewhere else, not the Mara-kind of elsewhere, something quieter than that. Remembering, maybe. Or trying not to.
"Vidyadhara," Blade said finally, his voice low, "always preferred the cold."-
After the rather unusual group of factions, defeated Fulwish together, everyone is restlessly waiting for a response by the IPC on the future proceedings in regard to the Abundance Threat looming over Planarcadia. Most importantly, what to do with Blade.
Conveniently, Evanescia knew a place! A retreat home, cold spring waters, everything to help Blade maintain a calm state with Shuhu's flesh being in his body. But they can not let him go unsupervised. How fortunate that Dan Heng volunteers to go along.Series

“You bought art supplies.”
“Yes.” A beat. “Very observant.”
Blade looked at the bundle. Then at Dan Heng.
Dan Heng refused to meet his eyes with enough determination that it immediately became suspicious.
“They seemed useful,” he said, far too casually. “I’ve been meaning to.”
The tips of his ears were pink, very slightly.
Barely noticeable. Blade noticed immediately.-
Blade takes a stroll through Planarcadia's morning market, confronted with all different kinds of craftsmanship he remembers his past in painful detail. Dan Heng notices and decides to buy some Art supplies. For no reason at all, of course.

“How’d it go?”
Amamiya wasn’t allowed in during shooting, of course. Akechi had told him he didn’t need to wait outside, but he had anyways. Standing like this, in a thin alley between cement and brick, in a pocket away from the propriety of TV sets and dressing rooms, Amamiya looks like a secret stowed away especially for him.
“You didn’t watch it for yourself?” He asks.
Amamiya shakes his head no. His eyes flick upwards, and his relaxed lean against the wall means Akechi can’t tell if he’s sizing him up or checking him out. Then, entirely too genuine by comparison, Amamiya just says, “I prefer seeing you like this.”
Akechi’s first thought is that he’s definitely in love.
His second thought is that he needs to kill Amamiya.
The third is that if things don’t change, he might need to kill himself, too.
The only thing more embarrassing than killing the first and only friend you've ever made is getting a crush on him. Akechi is handling that humiliation about as well as one can expect.
