"You can’t," he said, but there was a slight hesitation in his voice this time.
"I’m gonna need you to open your mouth," Oscar said,
"I’m not going to do much," he continued, still calm.
"I’ll just keep my fingers in your mouth for a bit. That shouldn’t be a problem, right? Since you’re straight.""Wh—what?" Lando said, staring at him in disbelief.
"It’s simple," Oscar said. "I’m not even touching you anywhere else. Just my fingers. Are you scared you’ll react to that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Summary
Oscar is spending the summer in Italy, but he’s not in the mood for any of Italy’s magical countrysides or famous sunshine. All he wants to do is go home, it’s arguably sunnier in Australia anyways. But he’s there because his father’s only condition for him to go to school in the US is that he gets to know his mother. But what kind of mother isn’t around for 18 years? That is until he finds a journal that was his father's when he lived in Tuscany and suddenly Oscar’s uncovering a whole new world of secret romances, art and hidden pastry shops. A world that astounds him and with the introduction of Lando, he finds himself with no choice but to follow his father's footsteps and discover the secrets that might change the trajectory of his entire life. Italy will change everything Oscar knew about his mother, his father and even himself. “People come to Italy for love in the sunshine and the gelato.” Someone tells him, but the rest he discovers all on his own.

The boy takes a step closer, and Lando forces himself not to flinch. There is no threat in the boy's posture, there’s no reaching hand or hungry gaze, but kindness is a very convincing farce.
"Does it hurt?" the boy asks, and his eyes are on the chain again, on the place where the fine gold links disappear into the skin of Lando's wing.
Lando does not know how to answer that. Yes, it hurts. It always hurts.
