Ryder stared at the softly lit purple haze before them.
It’s a beautiful grove, really. Straight out of a fantasy novel. Rumors even say that the inhabitants can use magic. That’d be cool.
A step forward. They still have a chance to turn back. Dense trees and denser colors would make anyone’s eyes sorely relaxed. They feel dizzy at the saturated hues.
Surely nothing bad will happen. All they got to do is to try not to die. There’s nothing worse than them dying.

Ryder, an amateur adventurer, wanted to venture into Lavender Groves. They were unaware of the chain events they would cause by opening the inhabitant's eyes to an unknown world.

Summary
The truth of the matter is, Kaveh has no idea how to read Alhaitham. He prides himself on being an expert at understanding people, his empathetic heart lending him the capacity to relate deeply with those around him (oftentimes to his detriment). But with Alhaitham, there is nothing for him to read; no clues from his cool expression for him to grasp. The man appears stoic all the time even during their petty bickering.
Honestly, when was the last time Kaveh has seen the man do anything except smirk or frown? Does Alhaitham feel happiness? Has he ever seen the man laugh?
Kaveh's mind is drawing a blank on the latter and it...bothers him deeply.

Kaveh devises a plan to get Alhaitham to smile by being aggressively nice to the man (and also maybe if he makes Alhaitham happy, he can score a discount on his rent or something). Alhaitham thinks Kaveh ate some mind-altering mushrooms and is, understandably, confused and mildly afraid.Series

Summary
People keep coming up to Kaveh to congratulate him. Kaveh doesn’t really know why, and he’s a little too scared to ask at this point, so he heads back home, content if not a little bemused.
He is, unfortunately, reminded of it the very next day, when the door slams open and Al-Haitham stalks in. “Mind telling me why everyone was congratulating me today?” he demands. “About your pregnancy?"
Or: Al-Haitham is, without a doubt, the most annoying person Kaveh knows. Maybe the world’s second-most annoying person can help Kaveh figure him out.

In thirty minutes, Alhaitham is going to be home, and Kaveh needs to be able to be his most composed self for the inevitable confrontation that will happen the second his roommate is through the door.
Actually— no, scratch that.
Why live through the confrontation at all when he could move out right the fuck now? If he starts packing this very second he can at least take a bag for some of his clothes and another for his most important tools. Right? Right.
Kaveh accidentally ends a phone call with “I love you.” Alhaitham… deals with it.
