Shen Qingqiu smiled. He opened his mouth. This one's purpose is to make sure Luo Binghe grows up well, he went to say.
That was not what he said.
He watched as the words left his mouth, as his sect's faces dropped. Yue Qingyuan and Luo Binghe turned pale. Qi Qingqi, confused. Mu Qingfang, upset but not surprised. Liu Qingge and the various disciples, angry.
"This one's purpose in life is to die."
"What do you mean by that, shixiong?" Mu Qingfang asked softly.
Shen Qingqiu quickly thought of a way to mitigate. Well, isn't everyone's purpose in life to die? Is that not the circle of life? He means to say.

Scalding water splashed onto his scalp. Shen Qingqiu watched him closely. The boy did not make a sound. He didn't even hiss or gasp. He did not flinch. The only change was his hands clenching, knuckles blanching with the force.
The Peak Lord was dumbstruck. He gave a single sharp laugh. "My, my. That is your only skill, isn't it? Mindless beast. This lord bets he could train you like a dog. You listen like a mutt. You're filthy like a mutt. Do you bark like one too?"
He rounded the table again, stopping in front of the boy. He was red in the face now, staring fixedly at the floor.
Shen Qingqiu smirked. "Bark, mutt." He ordered.
The boy hesitated for only a moment. "W-woof?"
"You sound unsure. I said bark."
