Summary
Irina is never entirely sure if she regrets her choice.
Most days, she thinks she does. Most days, she watches her son wake into a world that is just as cruel to him as it was to her, and wants to scream at how she left him. Most days, she wants to smack herself for not having tried anything else- for not having run as fast and far away from Grigori as she could when she still had legs, and taken Ilya and Alexei with her. Most days, she wants to kick quite a lot of people in the chest- all the talking heads and so-called fans who don’t understand a thing about her baby, who look at Ilya’s brash, rough exterior, and think that’s the sum of his parts.
She cannot do any of this anymore, of course. She cannot scream, kick, or hit anything- not when she no longer has a body, arms, legs, or a mouth.
These days, Irina simply is. A presence tied to the golden cross around Ilya’s neck.

Summary
Ilya started the list when he was seven years old. Then, it was a single sheet of lined paper, the header Потрясающие вещи written in blue marker. Potryasayushchiye veshchi. Brilliant things. Wonderful things, amazing things.
The first few entries were easy. Simple.
#1: Пломбир. [Ice cream.]
#2: Собаки. [Dogs.]
#3: Катание на коньках. [Ice skating.]
#4: Жёлтый цвет. [The color yellow.]
#5: Библиотекарь в школе. [The librarian at school.]- - -
Ilya makes a list for his mother, a list of everything in the world that is brilliant. Of course, he didn't know then how it would continue to change his life more than twenty years later.

Summary
If Yuna had been a different kind of person: one with a different mother, perhaps, with different scars, then maybe she would have embraced her gift. Cultivated it, shared it.
Instead she pretended it didn’t exist. Except for the times when she couldn’t avoid it.
Mich put it down to the grass Yuna had smoked at the Halloween party the following night.
Grass didn’t do this.
Déjà vu wasn’t quite right. She’d had that before. No, this was knowing that what she’d seen was going to happen. In the future. Sera vu, or something like that. Preemptive.
She did not call it Seeing. Not even to herself.

Summary
Shane and Ilya had mutually agreed to keep their whatever-they’re-doing out of Sochi. It was an easy decision to make: this was bigger than any MLH rivalry and definitely bigger than a few hotel hook-ups. There was no room for distractions, not with Olympic gold on the line.
So it’d be really fucking great if their daemons could get on the same page and stop trying to cause an international fucking incident.
