I read Curator's amazing work "The Autobiography of Kirsten Clancy" and left a comment to which she responded: “Okay, so I’m going to need you to write a fic entitled, “Who did you lose today?” because that is haunting me. Goosebumps. (I know you love Crusher/Troi. Maybe a Dominion War fic for them? I’m not picky, though. I just think you could write an amazing fic with that title.)” So here we go.
It is exactly that: a Dominion War fic about the Battle of Betazed, about the losses Deanna suffers, and about her grief.

Zelda, slitting mens throats in the dead of night on Tortuga whose hands wander too close to the girls’s skirts, removing their coin purses and vanishing like a ghost. Hilda, who poisons men with a smile on her face, who dreams of true love and far away adventures, who has a dagger tucked in her boot and aim better than the finest marksman. The three of them are the most curious of a family, death and love and the sea. Only Edward attends to the court now, his sisters off chasing the horizon.
Lilith had a family once, she doesn’t remember them.
