And now, all of a sudden, she isn't there with him in the universe anymore, and it's like his spine has been ripped out through his mouth, and there's nothing to keep him, his body, together."
Ben Solo is down in (more ways than one) a pit and Rey is dead on the ground and Ben is having absolutely none of that.
From here the story veers off canon, into the great unknown. Or at least into the great comfort of the trope of Ben Solo Lives.
"For what the Force has brought together, not even death shall dare break part" -Old Dyad proverb. Probably. I mean why not, I'm writing this thing now!

As she's about ready to give up on the whole endeavour and proclaim the ship more junk than actual ship, someone turns up through a convenient bond in the Force...Maybe he can offer up some insights on the inner workings of the ship? Maybe he's just there to whip his luscious hair around and distract her with his pouty, kissable lips? Who can tell, here's what happens:

Summary
He doesn't regret it as he shoves his elbow up in her delicate face.
He doesn't regret it as he hears the cartilage in her nose crunch on impact.
He doesn't regret it as she loses consciousness and he has to lower her down to the floor.
He kind of regrets it as he sees her coming to, face streaked with blood but otherwise looking unaffected by him besting her. And then, when she spits the blood out like it was nothing, he feels a stirring of emotion in him that has nothing to do with regret and everything to do with regard and admiration.
So noticing those feelings, that's when he regrets breaking her nose.Rey finds herself at the mercy of a merciless Supreme Leader. As a ward of sorts to ensure the Resistance behaves, Rey takes up residence at Kylo Ren's flagship. If the past is finally dead, then maybe it's time to look forward.

Summary
She knows the scar she gave him across his pretty face continued down his chest, but she hasn't seen it like this. It keeps going down the length of his neck, tainting his breast, marring his ribs and it doesn't end until where his hipbone juts out. And accompanying it are a multitude of fresh marks. Her's aswell, she realizes. She must not have been as restrained last night as she thought.
He follows her gaze down his body, probably sensing her distress.
”I don't mind, Rey. I enjoyed fighting with you last night. Not as much as when we fought side by side perhaps, but I really did enjoy getting these scars.” He raises a hand and motions towards the big one, lets a finger follow it from his brow and cheek, down his side, all the way to the lining of his pants. ”This one though? Not so much...”She can't help following his finger with her eyes, letting them roam the length of his body, making her feel lewd.
”I'm sorry, but that one you really deserved” she says quietly, mouth so dry she fears her voice might crack. ”And the other ones? I've got the matching set, so I'm not too filled with remorse.”

Ben's feelings imploring her, asking her, begging her: ”please don't close the connection”.
They stand like this, breathing in unison, their eyes locked on each other. Barely touching but almost burning where they can feel the heat, the skin, the presence of the other. It's a heartbeat, it's ten thousand heartbeats. Worlds standing still and worlds rushing past them in point five lightspeed.
Set days after TLJ, everyone regrets their decisions. (As they damn well should.)

Newly appointed to the rank of Wingleader, Xaden Riorson only has one goal for his third and final year at Basgiath: Get all the marked ones bonded and graduated so they might stand a fighting chance against the true evil lurking at Navarre’s borders. The only problem is that Violet Sorrengail, his enemy’s youngest daughter, has also joined the Rider’s Quadrant this year. He doesn’t know why she’s here, what her plans are, or if he can trust her. All he knows is that he can’t seem to stay away.
This is a rewrite of my previous fic “The Wingleader – Xaden’s POV”. It’s a Fourth Wing retelling from Xaden’s POV with new Iron Flame updates. It follows the dialogue and chapter timeline from Fourth Wing with my own interpretations and theories of Xaden’s actions and feelings.
Do not read if you haven’t finished both FW AND IF - major spoilers from BOTH books throughout!
