Summary
They're both been running out of time.
At thirty two, Gustave Lumière was supposed to be finishing his career, not rebuilding it after the accident that cost him his arm. He should not be fighting his way back onto Olympic ice while the world watched, waiting for him to fail.
Verso Dessendre at thirty one had already lived the dream Gustave had always chased. Medals. Records and glory.
Untouchable.
But time caught up within seconds with younger skaters closing in.
They knew each other for years. Shared rinks. Shared competitions amd trials. Shared looks neither of them had ever dared to think twice about. Now, at the edge of their careers, with everything to lose, they have another choice to make.
Winning.
Or each other.Bookmarked by DoeRanged

Summary
The girl’s shoulders hunch again. An expression is battling on her face. Guilt again, and fear, and shame. And then faintly, in the soft turn of her cheek, commiseration. She watches Gustave for a long, sad moment, and then turns to a new page in the notepad. She starts writing something, and then stops, glancing furtively at Gustave before scribbling it out. On a new line she instead writes in big bold letters:
Maelle.
OR
Gustave is the local mechanic of Lumiere, an idyllic coastal village far away from the chaos and conflict of Paris. Struggling with his recent injury and the loss of a good friend, he's not quite prepared when a family moves into the abandoned Manor on the edge of town.
He's definitely not prepared for their children.

Summary
After crawling out of a too-long stay in the Abyss as a hellion, Verso found his home in shambles, with nothing to return to. His baby sister was missing, his older sister was gone, his mother was institutionalized, and his father was struggling to keep it together.
His first instinct was to find his sister, but when he found her happily in the care of Gustave Aubert and his family, he realized that there was nothing in Lumiere for him anymore.
So, why can't he keep himself from coming back?

Summary
“So we got an anonymous report, about some family in the 16ème. You never know, with those, it’s either someone’s ex-spouse wasting our time or the worst shit you ever saw.”
Emma pours herself a glass and immediately takes a swig. Her face looks hollow in the dimming light of March.
“It was the second one,” she continues, pressing hard fingers onto the bridge of her nose. “I get to this huge fucking manor, and this lady opens the door, looking down on me like I’m dirt on the bottom of her shoe, right? Refusing to let me in, telling me nothing in there is my business, the works. You know it’s bad when they won’t let you in.”
In which Emma is a social worker, Gustave is a teacher and Alicia learns to live.
