Summary

Summary
The second prequel to Rebirth of Battra: The Destructive Adversary. Before the Vespers, the male dark fairies of Battra awoke, and the Gaea Grid collapsed. Mateo De Leon was just a lonely Filipino boy trying to find silence in the loudest city on Earth. Having recently moved from the Philippines to Japan, Mateo struggles to fit in, overwhelmed by the high-tech noise of the Neo-Heisei (Reiwa) era. However, while other local Japanese children ignore the hum of the city, Mateo begins to hear a rhythm beneath the concrete. This drumbeat matches the ancient stories his Lolo (grandfather) told him about the Mandarigma (warriors). This story chronicles how Mateo rediscovered the "Root Tongue" and realised that his heritage was the key to understanding the planet.

The story follows eight-year-old Ishida Ren and his childhood friend, Kodera Fukumi, who survive the “Three Days of Absence” by anchoring one another against the psychic void of the Space King, Ghidorah, in 1998, Heisei period. While witnessing the desperate battle of Armour Mothra, young Ren perceives the god’s victory not as a triumph, but as a tragedy of “genetic bankruptcy,” realising that humanity can no longer rely on dying deities for protection. United by this shared trauma, the two survivors forge a pact to replace the unpredictable “Shield of Light” with a permanent defence of their own making, driven by the belief that if they cannot control the monsters, they must build a world the monsters cannot touch.
Decades later, Dr Ishida Ren rejects the empathetic teachings of his mentor, Saegusa Miki, to spearhead Project Gaea, a global energy grid designed to act as a “technological shield” that silences the bio-acoustic frequencies of the Kaiju. Working alongside Fukumi, now the architect behind the project’s “claustrophobic fortress” in the Arctic, Ren seeks to drown out the psychic noise that has haunted him since childhood.

Summary
Mono is exhausted, becoming the Thin Man following his best and only friend's betrayal drains him, and it doesn't help that the Eyes within the Signal Tower are draining and restraining him constantly. So when an opportunity of a life time appears, offering him a way out of his torture, he doesn't hesitate to take it. Returning back to the forest in front of the TV again as his younger self, Mono is presented with a question. What does he do now? Especially when it comes to his "friend", does he get his revenge? Does he repeat the loop and help her escape once more? And most importantly, how does he evade the Eyes and their ever watchful gaze as they hunt him down to regain the control they had lost. Only time will tell...

Summary
As the title says, this is an AU where Mono is the one to turn into a monster. Why? The Eyes were bored of seeing the same thing over and over again so they changed one small thing. Pretty simple, but I didn’t plan on this being so long, or anything at all really ☠️ The story leads to much more, but I can’t say anything else, lest it spoil the work :)
This work was inspired by “Monster Mono []Little Nightmares 2 Animation[]” by “AIDARE”! The design is from here and the concept got me really interested, and I just started writing. I had no idea where this would lead…
