Hayato is about to restart life.
He's moved to a new town, far away from Tokyo. Tomorrow is his first day at a new school.
The only thing that stayed the same is his dad and the clothes on his body.For about four years he's wanted this restart. He wanted to escape his old classmates, his old stuffy apartment, his old teachers. Anything to get away from them.
Like a late surger he's had to watch everyone else run ahead of him. His grades aren't that good, he's never had a girlfriend and he's barely managed to make any friends. It's always felt like he's had to watch everyone else pull away, their life sorted out and in control. Some of them frontrunners, the gifted kids and prodigies. The rest pace chasers, trying to catch up to them. But to him, even the thought of catching a pacer has seemed impossible.
Rather than make any ground, he has fallen further and further behind. He can't fight it, not of his own strength. No matter how much he tries, the lead simply won't shrink.
It'll take a spark, a divine intervention, a blessing from above to even give him a chance.Against all odds, that blessing comes. A grace bestowed upon her finally lets her late surge the game of life.
