Summary
There was no glory in war. Only loss. Ghosts to follow you home, if you were so unfortunate to survive. Thomas Dowell had done his time. Served his country. Just as his older brother had, and their father before them. Now, he was alone. No one to come home to at the end of the day. No friends who made it back with him. His home now was the bottom of a bottle, the only place he could find refuge from the ringing in his ears, the explosion still taunting him in his own mind. It's all he had left to slur out warnings, to the young hopefuls who thought that war was the place they wanted to be, that they could be heroes. It may be hopeless, but it was all he could do to save them, before they ended up just the same as he.

It was hard to sit through it, watch it all happen. To watch his dad drive away. But it would set him down a path towards a truth he never even knew was there, mysteries and revelations right under his nose.

PHENOMENAL story, such absolutely wonderful treatment of the characters, the dialogue sounds so much like them it's almost alarming. I haven't rewatched the show in years and reading this, I can hear their voices clear as day.
The plot is incredible and covers subject matters and threads that I have always wanted to see explored! And for God's sake, Jack finally catches a fucking break and he so deserves it. I can't believe I caught up, I feel so lost without it already. I cannot wait for the next update, and I'm so excited by the prospect that this story is FAR from over.
And as an even personal note, I'm very pleased with the depiction of Jack's little crush on Chase, and how nothing comes of it. Because he's sixteen (now), and nothing SHOULD come of it. Thank you I love you please come back soon -

A PHENOMENAL mystery with beautiful characterization, excellent dialogue and the pacing is perfection. I cannot wait for more of this story, if ever we are blessed so. There is a conspiracy here and I'm so excited to see how it unfolds. HIGHLY recommended.

Summary
Dell is an American student-turned-wanted-criminal studying in Europe during the outbreak of World War II. After having his life saved by a mysterious stranger he finds himself plunged into a world of espionage and brushes shoulders with partisans, communists and rebels while trying to return home.
Basically a pre-canon engie/spy thing set in 1941 Europe written by a history nerd. Shipping isn’t the main focus and can be ignored if it’s not your cup of tea.
