Though his head had fallen back to allow her weapon room against his flesh, and the sound of his breath scratched against her ears, the proud set of his beak remained firmly in place. His green eyes were bright, silently challenging her as if to say, “Is that all you can do?”
In answer, she pressed the prongs of her trident against his throat.

“Sun Wukong,” Blake says softly, “I don’t need, or want, fancy dinners or expensive galas.” She runs her thumb underneath his eye. “I have everything I need right here. You’ve already proven yourself, every time you’ve been there for me when I needed you. I don’t want anything else except for you.” Sun leans into the hand she’s pressed onto his cheek, and she glances down to her hand, where the ring he'd had made for her, so long ago, sat on her finger.
He can tell she has something more to say, and he keeps his eyes on her as the sun continues to rise, warming the air between them.
“So, will you stick with me for a little while longer? Will you marry me?” Blake asks quietly.
And really, how else is Sun going to answer that question except for…
“Of course.”
Five times Sun asks + one time he answers.

The top of her head, where the two delicate fins which framed her face peaked, barely reached the base of the spaulder he wore. Her shoulders were barely in line with his chest, and sunk further as she bent forward in her seat. One of his wings alone could likely encompass the width of her body.
The one closest to her twitched away from his lap, moving as if there were some sort of invisible string pulling his arm towards the princess’s back—
He pulled himself away from the overwhelming draw, before he could do something he would regret.

“Zuko, am I a bad person? Like your father?”
The words don’t register in his mind, and he stares at her, aghast. Katara, a bad person? The concept doesn’t compute. Even when he was chasing them, part of him had always envied the ease with which she showed her goodness. All he had wanted was to be good enough, and Katara was effortlessly so. Was it even possible for him to catch up?
Zuko tries everything he can to prove to the Gaang that he's changed, that he's a better person. But the hardest person to convince, of course, has been Katara. He and his nation represent everything Katara resents, everything she's been traumatized by. How could he ever make up for everything his people have done? How can he make up for what he has done? Could she ever really forgive him?

“Why are you looking for medicine in the middle of the night?” Katara seeks out Zuko’s face again, but it’s simply a vague outline in the dark. There’s no reply. She forges ahead, regardless, genuine worry mounting.
“Zuko, what’s-” She’s cut off by a sound halfway between a sob and a frustrated snarl. Katara wastes no more time, striding straight up to the shadowy figure and groping for his arm in the dark.
“Zuko, give me a light, now.”
“Katara, just go.”
“Now.” Throughout this unexpected encounter, Katara has been whispering, but now she injects command into her voice. The single word brokers no argument, and Zuko doesn’t give her one.
