Summary
After fleeing the Mangkwan with his two daughters, Quaritch finds refuge within Awa'atlu, where he is cautiously taken in by the Metkayina as one of their own. But his safety is conditional... he must choose a mate before they can fully accept him, otherwise he will be forced to leave.
Quaritch has a difficult choice to make. It doesn't help that his previous relationship has broken him in ways he tries to hide. But the harder one tries to hide their demons, the higher the risk of them escaping.Or, the one where Tonowari and Jake pine for Quaritch but he thinks he is being mocked.
