As the new kid and his daemon walked through the halls, everyone’s eyes were on the daemon. She was unexpectedly large and fierce and unusual to see within the city limits.
A large orange tiger with perfect black stripes along her body, her bright green eyes looked around as if she’d bite anyone’s ankles if they came too close.
But Matteo could only see the boy. Dark floppy hair, perfect eyebrows, earphones around his neck, and shoulders hunched as if it could hide him. As if he didn’t want to be seen.
Matteo saw him.
“Oh dear,” Stella said into his ear from her perch on Matteo’s shoulder. Her ferret whiskers tickled his cheek. “Oh dear.”

He moves his body again, feet squeaking closer to Nick’s, his finger where it lies along Nick’s finger on the floor suddenly pressing. He hitches in a breath as he feels Nick’s pinky finger hook onto his.
Nick looks at him, his head drifting slightly closer, then he takes a quick breath and looks away. ‘I don’t know … maybe?’ he says.

Here it is, the Heartstopper x Sweater Weather crossover nobody but me clamored for! You do not need to read SW to read this fic. However, if you HAVEN'T read lumosinlove’s Sweater Weather (and Coast to Coast, and, well, everything), you absolutely should, because it is a remarkable piece of writing (as well as its own standalone AU).
There will be parallels and divergences from both Heartstopper and Sweater Weather in this story.
Do I know a ton about rugby? Nope! Do I live in England? I sure don't. Will I get a lot of things just wrong enough to be annoying? Definitely! Will there be science facts at the end of each chapter? I can’t help it. Enjoy the ride.

Anthony chuckled. “No, no, just the new captain, Nick Nelson. He was named captain even though he’s only a second year, and he’s apparently being scouted this season to play professionally. We wanted just a sort of spotlight article on him. Ted had questions prepared so I’ll email those to you. Thank you so much, Charlie, you’re really saving us here!”
Or, Charlie has to fill in for a sport's reporter and has a very intriguing (and hot) interviewee.
