"The National City Lakehawks," Jack says. He flips the cover of the binder over. "Who is this?"
“Kara Danvers,” Lena answers. It’s the only player she can name off the team at this point and that’s only because any sort of research into the Lakehawks seems to start and end with the same girl.

Summary
Caitlyn wasn’t looking for trouble—just a drink, a quiet bar, and the illusion of control after a long day.
But when Vi walked in—brash, magnetic, and impossible to ignore—she found herself unravelling by the minute. What started as a playful exchange turned charged, then dangerous. Caitlyn told herself it was just sex. Just heat. Just one night.
And still, she swore it was only the afterglow making her feel this way.
Vi knew how to handle one-night stands—easy, clean, no strings.
But Caitlyn? Caitlyn looked at her like she saw through all of it, touched her like she meant it. And Vi let her. She’d meant to keep her distance, meant to stay cool. But somewhere between Caitlyn’s breathless gasps and the way she whispered her name like it mattered—Vi forgot how to pretend.
It was supposed to be simple. It never was.

Summary
Ask her if she reads. No, dumb—she clearly reads.
Say something about the weather. What are you, eighty?
Comment on the book. Too obvious. She’ll know you were staring.
Just say literally anything—“Here you go.” Vi set the coffee down gently, voice a little hoarse. “Black. No sugar. Same cupcake as last time.”
Cait looked up at her with that soft, surprised smile again—like Vi had done something remarkable just by remembering.
“Thank you,” she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re very kind.”
Vi scratched the back of her neck, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She didn’t want to leave. She wanted to stay right there.
But her throat went dry. The café buzzed around them, and Vi’s brain—usually quick, sharp—offered nothing.
Idiot.
__________As December nears, Cait arrives in Zaun, hoping to find a sense of home—something to anchor her through the harshness of military training. She finds it in a quiet café, and in the girl behind the counter who takes her breath away. Truth is, they leave each other breathless.
Neither of them is prepared for what fate has in store for their tragic, yet beautiful story.

Summary
“If you had the chance to make it true, what would you wish for?”
Vi smiled, her mouth curving in that enigmatic, emotionally charged way that made Caitlyn's face flush.
“Just one wish?”
“Yes.”
“To have met you before" Vi whispered "That way, for every time I close my eyes, I could see you clearly in my mind.”
::
Caitlyn has everything she could ever want. Everything she ever dreamed was materializing with the same confidence and skill of someone who knows what she wants and has the means to get it. But still, she feels empty, as if her life is aimless and, worst of all, she is completely detached from the one thing she believed was her great love, art. Until, by coincidence of life (or perhaps fate) she meets Vi, a young woman who has lost more than most could bear, but still maintains a fierceness and zest for life that immediately draws Caitlyn into her orbit.
But despite her optimism, Vi also has her own demons to face, a past to overcome and prejudices to fight against day in and day out.
Could two people so opposed to each other find connection through art? Or will their differences in life outweigh their strong and growing bond?
