    “Hollander? You are still here?” Rozanov called, breaking the TV static silence filling Shane’s head. He blinked. 

    “Uh. Yeah, just leaving,” he answered, surprised by how steady his voice sounded. Good, that was good. He knew he couldn’t show Rozanov any weakness if he wanted to keep coming back.

    But did he want to come back if it made him feel like this?

    “Door is too heavy? Or I fuck you too good, you cannot move legs,” came Rozanov’s taunting response. Shane could practically see the tilted smirk on his face, cigarette smoke wafting around his freshly-showered curls. 

    “Fuck off, Rozanov,” Shane muttered.

    Such a breath of fresh air. Fell in love with this family of lesbians and their interactions with our lovely boys and the Pikes. So entertaining. Love that Ilya and Shane get to adopt a little trans girl to be welcomed into their chosen family group in the end.

    Stevie’s laugh was bright, “Sometimes, yes. But that is also one of the perks of the job. Getting to see so many beautiful houses. You had this designed, yes?”
    Ilya pushed the button for a flat white before he turned. “Yes. With my partner. He is much more into the whole real estate thing than I.”
    At those words, as if summoned, Shane appeared at the top of the stairs, a vibrating Anya at his side.

    Ilya gets invited to film a Youtube Video for Architectural Digest for his house in Ottawa and he decides not to hide the fact that someone else also lives here in the off season. He could have warned the camera team beforehand, but that would have taken all the fun out of the reveal.

    Roz couldn’t take three hours off when he was in Boston to see Cliff, but somehow managed to kick off a whole ass friendship with his worst enemy when the guy lived two hours away? Make that make sense! As far as Cliff knew, Hollander didn’t even like any of the things that Roz liked – partying or clubbing or drinking. What did Hollander have that Cliff didn’t? Besides a second Cup? And several MVP awards? And multiple broken records?

    Oh god. Had Roz picked Hollander as his new best friend because he was better than Cliff at hockey?

    Cliff is very proud to be Ilya Rozanov's best friend (or at least his best male friend). But then Ilya moves to Ottawa, dodges Cliff's attempts to hang out and, oh yeah, suddenly announces a close friendship with a guy he's hated for most of a decade. This would be much simpler to deal with if Cliff had any idea how to talk to Roz about feelings. Or how to talk about feelings at all.

    Everything I could have wanted from a Cliff fic. I love that he goes through best friend jealousy and has his sister to be a sound board about best friend stuff and to tell him he's being dumb or too macho. Love Cliff reconnecting with Ilya at the end.

    "Authentically," Shane supplies, automatically.

    "Yes. Authentically. I want to go to the rink authentically, as me," Ilya confirms.

    Ilya looks at Shane, pauses until Shane meets his eyes. "I want to say: I, Ilya Rozanov, love a man, and that man's name is Shane Hollander."

    So beautifully done. The angst is just the right kind where I was teary-eyed or crying for most chapters in the first three quarters of the fic. The journey the boys go on for their individual growth so that they can come back together later better for it is exquisite. I could've gone on to read another 2 chapters, but it does end in a very beautiful place. The last line is a very good one for a semi-open ending. Also, Ilya making his own friends - and some that are queer women at that - is so great to see. I love the OCs of Jessica and Lauren. 10/10 would recommend.
