Summary
Once his foot landed on the pavement of the sidewalk, he looked around and breathed it all in. Something inside himself settled at the familiar sights of Soho and quickly lifted his mood. He took a step and began walking towards his bookshop, and before he knew it, he was standing right in front of the double doors. The bell above the door announced his arrival and made him smile. His smile broadened when he saw everything looked exactly as he left it; it didn't even look like anything was sold. He stepped further in and just took in the whole place, breathing in the comforting smell of books, dust, leather, and glue. This place was home away from home; he could almost cry. He could have if the bell above the doors behind him didn't announce another presence. He whipped around to see a dark, lanky figure standing frozen in front of the doors that closed behind him. His red hair long and quiffed hung in loose curls on one side of his face, had sharp cheekbones, and wore round dark sunglasses. Aziraphale found himself wondering what the beautiful stranger's eyes looked like. Something then began to tickle the back of his mind. He didn't get long to examine it when the man's voice croaked, "You're back..."
"Pardon?"

When he exited the room, he saw Rouge, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy already in the atrium a few meters away.
He smiled when he saw them and started walking their way.But just then, to the right, someone else exited one of the medical rooms.
Sonic froze, unable to move a single step.
Oh my God.
Shadow walked out with confident, measured steps, adjusting his inhibitor rings with a scowl on his face.
His gaze focused, his mouth twisted in a slight grimace, revealing just a hint of sharp teeth.Okay. Bad. Very bad.
His heart was pounding again.
He was going to die.
He was going to die from how illegal Shadow looked.“Sonic…?”
A distant voice (maybe Tails?) called out to him, but it sounded like a vague background noise.
He was too focused—too focused on Shadow, who, upon hearing his name, looked up and met Sonic’s gaze in two seconds flat.Sonic nearly lost his balance.
Those damned eyes.
“Faker.”
He said it out loud, and it snapped him out of it.
Now, dammit—focus. Be your damn self.
Please.

Summary
After being on Starfall Islands, Sonic's friends, true to their word, go off and explore the world on their own, which leaves Sonic alone in Tail's workshop to keep an eye on the Master Emerald and himself. Being left alone after the pain of Cyberspace is definitely a good idea.
Time has never ticked by slower. But, with the sudden run into Shadow under the stars, his life starts to pick up once more. But the sudden strange attitude Sonic has does not go unnoticed by the other hedgehog.
With a newfound motivation, and the tired old threat of a new plan from Dr. Eggman once again, Sonic is ready to battle him once again, even if he doesn't have his friends right near him at the moment. Well, except for the three strange friends standing around him as they stare at the documents regarding Eggman's new plans.
