"I see you're still clinging to the hope that Topside will pity us if we cooperate like lapdogs?" Silco asked Vander, voice laced with a strange mix of both dismissal and venom.
Vander sighed and rubbed his temple, his old partner could be so stubborn, "Silco, what good is an independent nation if everyone there is either an addict, a criminal, a cripple or an orphan?" He said, listing his grievances with his fingers, "You want your revolution, I want to ensure we can pass something better to our children."
At that, the Eye of Zaun raised an inquisitive eyebrow, "So how to do you propose we do that?" He asked, taking a sip of his whiskey.
"We're both smart men, we'll figure something out."

His subconscious tugs even harder when the kid meets Powder’s eyes and suddenly lurches away as if burned, eyes fretful and hands flying up, fingers twitching and arranging jerkishly.
Sign language. He’s familiar. There are one or two older folks around the base that use it, either being born deaf or lost their voices to something or other or just too Undercity to be considered for something like hearing aids. He catches onto the words the kid is saying, and he can’t help but choke like the wind has been punched out of him when realization dawns.
Why blue? The kid is asking Powder, and that if nothing else solidifies the shaky theory he was already considering. This kid is from home. More than that—she knows Jinx, knows what everyone knows about her coming back from the dead, shimmer making her into something otherworldly.
