Summary
From around the time when he was 12, Max Emilian Verstappen had begun day-dreaming about being an unknown, anonymous figure, known solely for what he could deliver on track, with no media to hyperanalyze his stats or to question his overtakes, his defending, or his aggressive style; with no one to ever shame him for what his heart most desired. As the possibility of climbing through the feeder series to get to Formula 1 became more tangible, Max knew he had to make a change. He had to become completely anonymous to the world around him for a chance at being free.
Or: a multi-chapter fic of what would happen if Max Verstappen chose to become the first faceless racing driver since before he got to Formula 3.

Lando did not expect Piastri's face to light up. “ I didn't take anyone out, least of all myself. I think I deserve some credit for that.”
“It was still dangerous,” Lando scowled.
Piastri smiled. “The whole time, I was in the mindset of, ‘either I pull this off or we all fucking die’, and it worked wonders in making sure I didn’t botch it.”
“That’s such an insane fucking mindset that I don’t even know where to start,” Lando groaned, shaking his head. “I think you learn from Max too much.”
“I do,” Piastri agreed, stepping closer and crowding into Lando’s space. It didn't help that Piastri was taller than him. “Max has this special brand of crazy that I admire.”
“What, so you decided to copy his insanity, too?”
“I need it to survive in this seat,” Piastri said, voice dropping low.

Oscar Piastri debuts into Formula 1 with Red Bull. Either he tames the bloody car that’s actively trying to kill him, or he dies trying. Oscar was dramatic enough to commit to the latter– after all, you know what they say: Red Bull gives you wings.
