Even if the upbeat voice of Okhema's very own golden boy hadn't been so intimately familiar to him the challenge itself would have given him no doubt of who he was dealing with, pushing his buttons has never been on many people's agenda. At some point, it was no longer really about winning, but rather the adrenaline rush that they get from competing with each other.
At some point, those challenges had become no more than just convenient excuses for them to be up close and personal with each other, boundaries be damned as banters turned into makeout sessions and strikes turned into needy touches.
At some point, Crown Prince Mydeimos—now fondly known as Mydei to him—had successfully claimed the colors red and gold for himself. Phainon's mind no longer associated those colors with the day he lost everything, and his nightmares had become more infrequent the more intimate he got with his ‘rival’.
