You drag your eyelids down, down, pushing your fingers into your hollowed cheeks, down your jawbone, and down the front of your neck, pushing enough on it to send alarms to your brain. You leave redness in your fingers’ wake. Somehow it feels like your skin never snaps back into place, that the whole right side of your face sits at your feet, pooling off the chair and into the ground.
