Shane had been hoping, admittedly naively, that the anxiety would have dissipated, now that his worst nightmare had happened and he’d emerged from the other side with a husband and spot on a new team who, according to Ilya, Coach Weibe, and the group chat he’d been added to by Wyatt before the ink on the new contract had dried, were all very excited to have him. That it was still there didn’t appear to make sense.
If he dug a little deeper, though, retreated into the recesses of his subconscious, Shane supposed he was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Summary
Sometimes Ilya sees Shane and all he wants to do is bite him. Not in a sexy way, although that comes and goes, too, but in a way that scares him. It’s big, how badly Ilya wants to sink his teeth into his boyfriend, shake. He wants to be tucked in Shane’s chest, all the way under his ribs, like somehow by devouring him Ilya is the one who will get to crawl inside him and live there.
Most of the time Ilya can divert this urge of his. He’ll suck marks down Shane’s neck and that will be enough, or he’ll bring Shane a snack and watch him eat it, the way his throat bobs as he swallows. But there’s something about today that makes it so when Ilya walks by Shane on the couch, he just knows none of that will work this time.

Summary
After running out on Ilya post–tuna meltdown, Shane feels like absolute shit.
It’s not until the middle of the night, stuck in a hotel room with Hayden, Shane realises he quite literally feels like shit as he spills his guts out in front of his very worried roommate.
By morning, the game is cancelled—the Raiders are down with stomach flu… and so is the Metro’s Captain.
Stranded while the rest of the team flies home, Shane thinks he is left to suffer alone—until help arrives from the place he least expects it.
And to make matters worse, Hayden is starting to ask questions Shane really doesn’t want to answer.
