Summary
The Holy Roman Empire has always had trouble keeping her Italian territories together.
Maybe because even as she has had nearly all of north Italy under her control, she has never had the spirit of Italy in her house. There are two, supposedly, she has even met the one of the south, a sour-faced girl who looked only a little older than Holy Rome herself. But never the one of the north.

Summary
Italy likes being underestimated. He likes that the other nations characterize him as silly or harmless. That gives him the opportunity to disappear into the background, to become the cute, sweet, painfully naive pasta-loving nation that everyone holds dear. But he draws the line at being called nice.
Italy is not nice. He is kind, and there is a difference.

Summary
Iceland is, in a word, surly. From the moment the Fearless had begun disembarking, England had known that the worst protestor against British occupation would be Iceland himself.
(Which wasn’t exactly a high bar to pass, given that the only other protestors had been a drunkard walking past, and a man at the harbor who’d stuffed a cigarette into a marine’s rifle.)

Summary
Max loves Charles. He has done all the way back since they raced in karts together and Charles had that stupid swoopy hair style that he always ended up brushing out of his eyes.
It has all been so simple back then. An arm on his shoulder when they shared the podium, a clap on the back in greeting or congratulations, and the occasional brush of a hand that sent Max spiralling as he tried to will away the blush that built on his cheeks.
Max had never thought about anything beyond those touches. Sure, maybe he’d considered what it would be like to kiss someone from time to time but nothing further. He thought maybe, during his teenage years, he was just too focused on racing, on achieving his dream and making it to Formula One. Maybe, once he made it, he’d be normal in that regard.
The feelings never came.

Or 5 times Max struggled to accept that Charles loved him regardless of his asexuality and 1 time he finally did.

Summary
Living in a world where curses — and blessings — can be thrown onto a person so easily is not Charles' favourite thing. It's inconvenient, though he stopped caring about the magic running through the air as soon as he realized that there are ways he can protect himself from it. Thin strings of red tied around his wrist, incense stashed in his carry-on, soulmates. The last solution is useless, given that he'd need to have his soulmate for that, but it is one nonetheless.
(or, five times Charles gets cursed and Max heals him, and one time the roles are reversed.)
