    Meowth knows that he’s many things. For one, he knows he’s a Team Rocket agent. He knows he’s number fifty-two in the Pokédex. He knows he’s a normal-type pokémon.

    He also knows that he’s a freak, an unnatural thing, just like she’d said. He knows that things never seem to go right for him, and that everyone either leaves or doesn’t want him. He knows he’s impossible to love.

    While traveling toward Nimbasa city, Ash and his friends stumble upon something they never expected to find-Meowth, alone and badly hurt, with no sign of Team Rocket anywhere nearby. Though wary of an old enemy, they can’t ignore a Pokemon in need, and decide to help him recover long enough to learn what happened.

    As Meowth begins to wake, it becomes clear that injuries are only part of the story. Something has gone wrong-far beyond another failed Rocket scheme. Fragments of the past surface, loyalists are tested, and uncomfortable truths about Team Rocket begin to emerge.

    What starts as an act of mercy slowly pulls the group into a situation far more dangerous than they anticipated, where trust is fragile, old roles no longer apply, and Meowth must decide who he is when the team he depended on is no longer there.
