Summary
People were bumping into Mike, and he was bumping into them, but he didn't even care. He barely noticed their presence as he fled from the theater. All that mattered was getting away. Far, far, away from Hawkins. The only sound his ears could discern was the faint call from who he thought was Will behind him. His chest tightened even more - but it was the good kind of tight this time - accompanied by panic coiling even tighter around his lungs. His step faltered for a fraction of a second, the idea of turning around and running into Will's warm, gentle arms filling his head and captivating him.
But he knew it was wrong.
So, so wrong.
Mike Wheeler and Will Byers have loved each other forever, but neither will admit it to the other. Vecna has been hiding, Mike was kicked out and has been dealing with the consequences. He isn't doing the best, and he ends up being the perfect target. Will Mikes near death experiences force them to address their mutual feelings for each other? Or will it push them farther apart then ever before?
Or: Mike Wheeler gets Vecna'd. A s5 rewrite.

Summary
“Oh, you weren’t aware?” Will clicks his tongue, his slow steps sounding menacing against the quiet surrounding them, “Guess you’re not much of a protector after all.”
Mike can’t do anything but stare. Think, Mike, he tells himself, think.
Will doesn’t waste any time as he flips through a Bible left on the pulpit. “And you call yourself my best friend,” he almost spits those words, and Mike tries not to feel hurt, “but that’s not entirely correct, either, am I right?”
What?
Will and Mike get sent out on a mission to a place that’s suspiciously guarded in Vecna’s mind, which is Hawkin’s Church. Mike has a general dislike for churches that he put aside in favor of accompanying Will.
When Will’s connection to Vecna spirals out of control, Mike is caught in the fallout, not only forced to confront the truth he’s been carrying with him for years but also try to get Will and himself out of there alive. The biggest issue is, Will is possessed and Mike isn’t leaving the church without him.
What begins as a desperate attempt to wake Will up, ends in Mike realizing he would rather face hell than lose Will again.

Summary
And maybe it’s the way the streetlights flicker, or the way the town is too quiet, but Will suddenly feels the weight of everything pressing in on him again. The truth clawing at his throat. The things he wants to say but can’t.
He takes a breath.
“Mike.”
Mike turns to him immediately, eyes sharp, attentive.
Will grips his own wrist, fingers digging into his skin. He hesitates—just for a second—before finally, barely above a whisper, he asks:
“Can—” He swallows hard. “Can you promise me something?”

The very foundation of the universe has cracked. No, not the Upside Down; something even more catastrophic. Something so unbreakable that its destruction can lead to the end of life as they know it.
“I just can’t believe they’re fighting,” Lucas muses with a sigh.
“This is a bad one,” El emphasizes. “They fought in California too, but it wasn’t like this.”
“In the ten years I’ve known them, I’ve never once seen them sit more than six inches away from each other. This is worse than the summer of ‘85.”

When Mike and Will get in an argument, the Party comes up with a plan to get them back together again (as purely-platonic friends, of course).

Summary
“So. The church?” Miike asked.
“The church.” Will said firmly.
The building radiated with a sort of holy innocence, looking almost untouched and definitely out of place in the Upside Down. Will jiggled the front door handle and groaned. “Locked.” He thought for a moment. “Stand back, Mike.”
Mike did, watching Will back up a few feet. “What are you-”
Will began in a running start before throwing the weight of his body against the door with a bang. The door swung open but Will kept his balance, wincing. “That was loud. And kind of stupid.”
“Are you kidding me?” Mike stared at him in a sort of awe. “I’ve only ever seen people do that in movies. Holy shit. That was epic.”
“Oh shut up.” Will blushed. “It was nothing.” As they made their way into the church, Will took off his jacket, slinging it over his shoulder and stretching out his arm. Mike watched the muscles in his back strain against his t-shirt, his biceps and lats bulge from the simple stretch. Mike swallowed, hard.
“Hey, it’s not too bad in here.”
