    "He was defending himself from harassment."

    "In this school, we don't tolerate any typr of violence!"

    "But tolerate the verbal assaults and bullying. I'm aware of that."

    The man blushed, whether with anger or embarrassment he didn't care. He continued, "Now may I know what happened?"

    "Some boys on the swim team called Jason bad names," the boy interjected, and Bruce noticed that he had a split lip and a black eye. But there was a determination in his gaze that he rarely saw in someone so young.

     

    Bruce liked him right away.

    Halfway through his Thursday night routine, Jason got antsy.
    The little bird hadn't come around.
    The fuckhead had made it a habit to follow Jason around on Thursdays from the moment Bruce let him out of the Manor after the Tower incident. He even went through the trouble to get messages to Jason to tell him when he'd miss a day.
    Which was the only reason Jason was bothered by the Pretender's absence. It was inconvenient for Jason to have arranged his schedule around the annoyance of having the kid follow him around only for the kid not to show up.
    Or;
    Tim Drake gets kidnapped and the lives of Gotham's vigilantes are changed irevoccably

    Jason gets it, gets the space between them, the way Red Robin keeps his distance. Of all the ways Jason fucked up when he first got back to Gotham, Pit-mad, green-tinted, and chock-full of Talia’s half-truths, breaking into the Tower and nearly killing a kid is the one he regrets the most. Dick or B probably would say something pointed about regretting committing multiple homicides and putting heads in duffel bags, but Jason doesn’t regret any of those deaths one bit. Maybe he’d choose a different duffel bag, but that’s about it.

    OR

    The one where Oracle calls Red Hood and Red Robin in to deal with a Crane-shaped incident at the docks, a brand new strain of fear toxin is released, and Jason is horrified to discover that he’s NOT Tim’s worst fear.
