The Erdians had found a blip close to Erid, what they believe housed a human. Grace goes to make contact, but is feeling wary. He hasn't spoken to another Human in literal years, and the last communication was unpleasant to say the least.
But that's fine, we can check on them, see if they are okay and- oh my god is that a goddamn submarine?! What are Humans doing?!

Summary
Middle school teacher Ryland Grace moves to Los Angeles for the summer to spend his break with his stuntman twin brother Colt. While visiting a set for one of the movies Colt's working on, Ryland unfortunately catches the attention of famous movie star Tom Ryder, who believes that they are destined to be together.

“Is the alien…dangerous?” he asks slowly.
“No! No, no he’s my friend, he’s - uh, well, the engineer of the Hail Mary,” says Grace. “Look, I’m just saying that - he’s gonna wake up soon, and we don’t need to tell him about how our first meeting went. We can gloss over the whole ‘tackle me to the ground and scare the daylights out of me’ thing. I won’t tell if you won’t.”
Simon is 90% sure this is going to come back to bite him in the form of blackmail but he nods anyways, because it sure as hell sounds like Grace is implying Simon will be allowed to stay a while longer.
Rocky sleeps through the absolute shitshow that is Simon and Grace’s first meeting. It’s probably for the best.
