Shane and Ilya know each others hockey game, the right way to get each other off, their drink of choice, and roughly as much as you can learn about another person on a 2 week cottage trip.
During the 2017-18 season, they very quickly learn that they hadn’t cracked the surface of one another. In particular, Ilya learns that Canada’s Golden Boy has some cracks.

Summary
A song starts, one Shane has definitely never heard before, and one spotlight illuminates the stage. A singular man with a large frame is revealed, and his body is shrouded in shadow, which piques Shane’s interest. His shoulders are broad and well-muscled, and he’s wearing a fucking toga, which Shane finds kind of hilarious. He lets out a high pitched giggle, and Rose elbows him as she sips her drink. He follows suit, taking a long pull of the vodka, because goddamn this man is downright godly. Shane can see each dip and depression, the shadows from the spotlight throwing him into stark contrast. His body is made of lean lines and bulging muscle, and Shane is already enthralled.
As the song picks up the man’s chin tilts up, revealing hazel eyes and plush, pink lips. His jaw is stubbled but not bearded, and his light curls gleam in the light. Everything about him is fucking attractive, but Shane assumes if you put your body on display for money, you better look the part. Even with that in mind, Shane is vaguely aware of wanting to put his tongue all over this man’s glorious body.
Ilya is a stripper living in LA who captures the attention of hockey player Shane Hollander. This is the story of their relationship.

Summary
Shane Hollander only likes to eat a handful of foods. He only thinks about hockey. He only feels comfortable around about five total people. He hates crowds and loud noises and bright lights and shoes that aren’t sneakers or skates.
Ilya thinks Shane is completely perfect the way he is. He wishes things were not so hard for his husband, but is always happy to help Shane navigate a world that isn’t built for brains like his.
Yuna and David Hollander love their son more than anything. They don't want any limits placed on his life, or any labels that would hold him back. He can thrive without a diagnosis being put on him.
Or: Everyone knows Shane Hollander is autistic. Except for Shane.

Seeing Ilya and Shane when they didn’t even know Shane was gay

Summary
“Pretend we don't know each other?” Shane repeats, a little confused in all honesty. Wasn't therapy about talking?
“Yes. You are meeting for the first time in this room. Introduce yourselves.”
Shane shifts in his seat, slowly turning to Ilya. It's not all that different from the first time they'd actually met; the awkward vibes radiating off Shane are almost identical. They're just missing a snowy forecast and a cigarette.
He decides to go a step further, standing up. It feels the right thing to do under the circumstances. Who meets for the first time sitting down? He takes a step forward, holding his hand out to Ilya. Or not Ilya. This random man he’s about to meet, who happens to look a lot like Ilya. Ilya takes the cue, standing from his own chair with a shake of his head. He takes Shane’s hand, shaking firmly.
“I’m Shane, uh, Shane Hollander.”
Ilya nods. “Ilya Rozanov.”
