His eyes shot open.
Lawrence was standing in the door of their bedroom, a smile playing over his lips. He trailed his eyes down Adam’s body, drinking him in– and then he saw the gloves.
Adam felt his face light with a furious blush. “Lawrence–”
“Are those mine?”
“...no?” Adam tried, breath hitching as Lawrence approached the bed.
“Really?” His voice was low and teasing. “Because they look an awful lot like my gloves.”

Adam thought for a moment. “Amanda’s room, probably. She took it the last time she went shopping.”
“You’ll catch your death out here.”
Adam smiled. “Maybe it’ll stick better this time.”

“I cleaned out your closet the other day,” says Lawrence, choosing his words carefully. “I didn’t find the film you were looking for, though.”
“Thanks.” Adam gives him a sheepish smile, then crosses over to the other side of the kitchen, an open carton of heavy cream in one hand. “I would’ve done it myself, but, y’know—”
Adam cuts himself off mid-thought. Cream sloshes past the mouth of the carton, running down the side and onto his hand. Over the course of what can’t be longer than a split second, his expression shifts from blissful unawareness, to dawning realization, to abject horror. His throat bobs. He stands there in place, staring at Lawrence.
Lawrence stares back. “…Yes?” When Adam doesn’t reply, he says, “Put the carton down. You’re going to drop it.”
“Uh.”
