“Ah, there it is — poetry!” Alberu clasped his chest theatrically. “Kim Roksoo, the philosopher of the Civil Service Secret Operation Team.”
The others in the room snickered — senior agents, rookies, and even the ever-unflappable Section Chief Ron. It was routine, almost comforting, this back-and-forth. Alberu teasing, Roksoo pretending to be immune, both orbiting around each other in quiet rhythm.
What wasn’t routine came two weeks later — when the Bureau assigned a new agent to their division.
