Noctis is unconscious at the altar in Altissia, Gladio and Prompto are nowhere to be seen, Ignis is surrounded and when he sees the dagger in Ardyn's hand press against his pregnant partner's throat, all he can hear is his blood boiling through his body with each heartbeat. And when Ardyn grins, “You’re a smart man, so I’m sure you can tell me; do you know what the magitek infantry is?” Ignis feels his heart sinking into his stomach and suddenly, all that bottled up rage pours out.

The last time she witnessed Seth this languid was immediately after they had departed this very room and he had received his blow from Valter. The sight of Seth like this opens her heart to that same brittle ache, and she worries that, if she were to move any quicker, it would shatter her.
Seth and Eirika relinquish themselves to a moment of emotional weakness after the events of Chapter 17. Basically I just wanted to write Seth crying because he deserves a good cry after everything. Title comes from a line from Fear by Current Joys, which I listened to while writing this piece.

Summary
Eirika stepped back a mere second before Seth’s sword cleaved through the air in front of her, a rush of air whistling in her ears, followed by shouts and the sound of metal bouncing off stone tiles. He was close enough that she could see the unnatural red of his eyes, the telltale effect left behind by a berserk staff set off somewhere in the castle. She had no doubt that the culprit was being tracked down at that very minute, but as she barely dodged another strike, she focused her mind on the task at hand.
