Summary
“The point is… we can make this easy or we can make this difficult.” Hajime didn’t even know what the words he said had meant.
“How so?” Komaeda quirked up, interested.
“Hmmm.” Hajime tried to make sense of himself. How can he get Komaeda to do something when he so blatantly refused? He had The faint idea that Komaeda enjoyed following orders, that, was cleared from the previous interaction. This time it seemed like that couldn’t even work…He could try bribing him? His mind sparked.
“I could give you something in exchange.” Hajime offered.
Komaeda’s eyes squinted “Like a … reward?”
Hajime sighed, swallowing his pride. “Will it work?”

Komaeda goes missing and Hajime seemed to be the only one that cared. Being sent into a spiral he finds himself with a problem: Komaeda refusing to eat, go to his medical appointments, or interact with the rest. The solution? Nagito shifted under the covers. "Do you know René Descartes?"
“I guess.” Hajime furrowed his brows. “Cogito ergo sum.”
“Yes, cogito ergo sum.” Nagito echoed, “It’s a philosophical concept he reached by locking himself up in a room away from all distractions from society. Traditions, customs, obscurantism. His goal was to start from zero. Rebuild his whole philosophy from what he knew to be real. That’s where his first conclusion came from. I think therefore I am.”
“So... you’re changing your philosophy, then? What’s your new take on hope and despair?”
“I don’t know, Hinata-kun...” Nagito smothered himself with his own pillow. “So far, I’ve just been sleeping.”
After the Neo World Program, Nagito Komaeda poses as a philosopher by drowning in guilt and painkillers and locking himself up in a room until everyone hopefully forgets about his miserable existence. Unfortunately for him, Hajime Hinata doesn't mind playing philosopher with him and clearly plans on doing something about his state.
