Summary
Robby and his husband Jack have been talking about starting a family. After hearing an omega is available, Robby seeks out the Whitaker farm. There he finds Dennis, a quiet, isolated young man who has spent his life as something close to a servant in his own home, valued only for his ability to carry children.
The story follows Dennis's slow, careful transformation from a boy who expects punishment into a man who discovers he might be more than what he was raised to be, and Robby and Jack's journey to become the family he never had.

Summary

It's Robby, there's no doubt about that, but under the campfire-backwoods-damp-earth smell of him is something sharper, older, that hits Dennis like a lightning strike. He's back to hot Nebraska summers, rocketed down into that mindset of the scared young boy who knows to expect a sharp bite from something bigger than him, stronger than him.

Summary
Robby was late again. Dennis sighed, Robby had promised him he'd be home by seven thirty, eight at the latest. It was going on nine now. Dennis had the day off so he thought it'd be good if he cooked Robby a meal.
Dennis knew he loved Robby. He could see a future with Robby. He wanted to ask Robby to mate with him and maybe after he was further into his career, they could have a pup or two but recently Dennis had noticed how Robby was pulling away.
He started making excuses and canceling their plans, his messages got shorter, Dennis had thought he did something wrong at first. He gave Robby space but after a day he talked to him.
Dennis steers his thoughts away from the memory of that night, his cheeks flushed as he sat at the dinner table. The food had long gone cold in his wait for Robby.
Dennis should be angry. Robby broke a promise, but all Dennis feels is numb. Tonight was going to be different, he promised himself. Robby would see how good of an omega would be and change his mind.
