Summary
“Barbatos, I… need a favor.”
Venti contemplates the merits of making the colorful collection of fine china float in the air. Sure, it’d cause a disruption in the restaurant, but wouldn’t it be fun to see the cups spin around and around and the intricate brushstrokes come to life? Fish swimming, the sun rising, the people beginning their days.
When his eyes rove back to the man across from him, Venti drops a fingertip down to the edge of his teacup. Perhaps later he will make a spectacle and fool of himself. Right now, he’s too sober.
“A favor?” Venti repeats, brows lifting, finger pressing down harder to the edge, “From me?”
in which zhongli asks venti to accompany him to a fundraising event, venti finds it too comical not to agree, and then things fall apart (and rebuild) from there. or, in other words, your typical fake-dating fic.

Summary
“I brought,” Zhongli begins offering the parchment to Venti, “this. If you’re unable to communicate verbally, perhaps this will work.”
The old man is smart. But, Venti wonders just how much writing his thoughts down will get him. He reaches for it, anyway. As Venti’s fingers brush along the paper, anemo magic sparks from his fingers. Beautiful cursive letters dance across the page and spell out:
Blockhead.
Venti looks deeply satisfied at the glare Zhongli shoots him.
“As immature as ever,” Zhongli mutters.
In which Venti loses his voice, Zhongli loses something, too, and they rediscover themselves and each other. Or, through shared vulnerability, they finally make that push.

Summary
“You’re allergic,” Zhongli counters, words slow and uncertain. There’s an edge of irritation when he adds, “We’ve already discussed this, Venti.”
“You caught me off guard,” Venti argues. “I was under duress.”
“I hardly call that duress,” murmurs Zhongli as he pinches the bridge of his nose. “Are we really revisiting this?”
“Yes, we are,” Venti grounds out. “He’s my cat, too. My baby. You’re not getting full custody.”
In which Zhongli and Venti breakup and they have to decide what to do with their pet cat, Dvalin. Things get messy but there's always a silver lining and light at the end of the tunnel. Also known as, two idiots in love are bad at communicating but it turns out okay.

Summary
“New glasses?”
“I — yes, but I was,” the man begins, sighs, and then pushes them back up his nose. “The answer is still no.”
“But I didn’t ask anything yet, silly!” Venti laughs and shuffles about in the chair, shifting so that he can fully face the man.
“Should I assume that you are finally done trying?”
“Of course not.”
In which Venti vaguely remembers their previous lives (together) and Zhongli does not. Or, Zhongli is a stuffy Professor and Venti is the chaotic storm he never wished for.

Summary
“Usually, usually when I’m like this,” Venti starts and then restarts, rising to his feet, still a tad wobbly, “I need a distraction so I don’t just,” and a pause for another sneeze and unsightly sniffle, “focus on it. I think a lot of the sneezing is just because you’re thinking of it.”
“A distraction,” Zhongli repeats, the words syrupy like honey on his lips.
Venti glances back at him, catches the way the embers this time illuminate something different in the inlaid amber. “Yeah. Have any ideas?”
or, in other words, after thousands of years, venti and zhongli try being friends with benefits. it blows up in venti's face, as things usually do. but not after many, many nights spent together and causing mild distress to everyone that knows them.
