亚历山大·克莱蒙特登基那天，举国欢庆，锣鼓喧天，普通百姓奔走相告，贵族乡绅都当街摆酒，重刑犯被特赦免除死刑，夜晚，炽烈如暗夜日光的篝火点燃在布鲁波尼特王国的金色沙漠和红色岩壁之上，在黑暗中安静而浩大地燃烧。
人们原以为亚历山大国王是清晨毛茸茸的太阳，会像他担任王储时一样，温和，开朗，带着初来乍到的天真烂漫，可是亚历山大国王登基后却如他们的国徽一般是在正午时分高悬天空的炎炎烈日，滚烫，凶悍，势不可挡。
登基不过数日，亚历山大国王便把旧王养在宫中的闲散无用之人清理了个干净，那些贵族再也不能闹哄哄地涌入宫廷房间，用新王的话，“宫廷中不应混迹娈童和鸨母。”
其中，最被针对的当属白金汉公爵，亨利·福克斯。
亨利·福克斯不同于生长在烈日下戈壁中的布鲁波尼特人，他是在寒冷和低日照中才能养出的冰肌雪骨，他的皮肤是比珍珠陶瓷更炫目的纯白，明明在最南的布鲁波尼特王国应是异乡人，可是凭借惊人的美貌，这个异乡人竟生生爬到了旧王的枕边，成了整个王国最权倾朝野的男人。
出入宫廷的达官贵族们都看在眼里，明明在旧王时代的尾端，王储和白金汉公爵日日都在一起，连对北边的国家开战都是两人一同怂恿旧王在病榻上同意的，可是在亚历山大国王真正登基后，且不说福克斯夫人被捕入狱，从白金汉公爵那里购买到爵衔的乡绅商人们被一朝打回原位，白金汉公爵的府邸田产被悉数收回缴纳国库，就连白金汉公爵本人，也暂时销声匿迹。
至于其他方面，新王掌权短短一个月，就凭借北部逐渐扭转的战争形势；大刀阔斧削减冗员的教会变动；注重民生轻徭薄赋的经济政策，让大主教，法官，上下议院的议员们都统统闭了嘴。
谁能相信这竟是那个天真开朗，总是轻易被白金汉公爵牵着鼻子走的单纯王储呢？
