Aziraphale frowned touchingly – his eyes crept closer, one opened on the angel’s forehead and slowly began to rotate, while the top pair of wings reached for Crowley.
The harsh brush of feathers against his face made Crowley lurch, and he collapsed into his chair. Aziraphale stepped back and frowned more seriously.
“Everything’s wonderful, angel,” Crowley lifted his hand and dropped it with feeling onto the armrest, where an especially large black pupil was ripening.

Summary
The world was simpler with sides, with his infant understanding of good and evil that he has to admit was never as black and white as he would like to imagine, even in his own company.
However, he usually is not in his own company, Crowley likes to spend time in the bookshop, especially now that they are safe to be around each other without the pretense of the arrangement hanging over them. Crowley prefers it this way, it’s obvious.
Aziraphale is still unsure how to behave, what is allowed of him, who he is supposed to be. The humans may call what he is experiencing an identity crisis, he is not satisfied with that description, most days he is satisfied with little at all.
Or
Aziraphale is unsure what to do with himself after being cut off from Heaven, he’s listless when Crowley turns up after a week of absence and Aziraphale refuses to keep his hands to himself any longer.

Summary
Aziraphale has books and sheep to keep him company on his isolated mountain farm. He's resigned himself to being past his prime, without any prospects for a partner and family. Yet when Crowley blows in from a storm, asking for work and hiding the past they're running from, Aziraphale feels more alive than he has in years as he grows hooked on them. But the farmhand job is only a temporary placeholder until Crowley moves on. It wouldn't be wise to hope for more.
