Summary
As soon as a pure-blooded elf cleric appears in his native lands, be it a forest, a flower meadow, a riverbed, or a mountain range, all living creatures reach for his hands. Deer and rabbits, squirrels and butterflies cling to Will's magical brushes; birds perch softly on his shoulders, completely surrounding him. Every animal, upon seeing him, seeks a piece of the elven caress, warm and pure, filled with primordial magic
Or: As a purebred elf, Will is loved by all the animals, and Mike can't help but feel envious.

Summary
Will didn't deserve this, not at all. He was supposed to be the Sun, warming people with his kindness and mercy, not lying in the damp, cold earth, feeding worms.
"Will... I hope you remember me on the other side, at least sometimes," Mike croaked, burying his face in his knees. "I hope you're happy and loved there, at least..."
To the deafening sound of rain, Mike closed his eyes. Something warm, almost weightless, enveloped his body, allowing him to relax. He took a deep breath, letting the damp air flow straight into his lungs and allowing the terrifying elements to lull him like their natural cradle.
As soon as Mike's eyes met the black slumber, somewhere in the back of his mind he heard rustling sounds coming from the forest, near Castle Byers.

Summary
Will suddenly decided to sit down on the ground, trying not to frighten Mike even more. Finding himself the same height as him, Will purred approvingly, closing the petals on his head. The Demogorgon's thermal image showed that Mike's body temperature had risen.
"Oh, my God... That's insane," Mike breathed, seeing no aggression from the monster. He'd never seen a Demogorgon this close, so he took a small, shaky step forward on trembling knees. "Will, what the hell happened? Can you even talk?"

Summary
"Mike, I've loved you my whole life. That's why your leaving was like a knife in my heart," Will's voice trembled. "I realized that I wasn't needed by anyone. Nobody was interested in me. And that my life no longer had any meaning. That's why I chose a different path: the suffering of others, pain, and death."

Summary
“No, Mike, you don’t get it!" Willow exploded.
Michelle's brows drew together in confusion, a crease forming in the soft porcelain of her forehead. Willow never raised her voice at anyone, and certainly not Mike. The black haired girl moved to place a steadying hand on her arm, but Willow stepped back, evading her touch like it might burn.
"Those people -" she continued. "People like Troy, like my dad – they were right about me. I am wrong. I am disgusting and perverted and all of those other horrible things they said about me.”
“Willow, breathe. You’re not making any sense.”
“I don’t like boys, Mike." The brunette rushed out, fighting to tear the words from her throat as though at any moment all of the oxygen in the room might disappear and she would lose the chance to forever. "I never have. I like girls. I like you.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. Oh.”

Willow Byers has been through a fair bit in her life but none of it - not going missing, or being possessed, or fighting alien creatures from another dimension - even comes close to the heartbreak of being in love with the one person she can't have.

Summary
Will smiled back, soft and sweet, like he always was. It was, all in all, the same smile Mike had grown up knowing as well as his own reflection. It was Will's teeth peeking through the slight pull of his chapped lips, and Will's skin wrinkling near his eyes. Mike would know Will's smile anywhere.
Only, that wasn't his smile.
Because that wasn't Will.
"Follow me?" Will asked, and one yellow ray of sunlight punctured the fog, illuminating the tufts of his mud-spattered hair like a halo. It was fitting. If the rest of the town thought Will was the devil, he'd always been an angel to Mike.
And for the life of him, Mike couldn’t remember what it was he’d been so worried about just a second ago.
"Yeah," he answered, treading behind Will and headed for the woods. "Always."
It's the summer of 1987, the town is under lockdown, the people are panicking and praying, and they've pinpointed Will as the one to blame for it all. In fact, nearly everyone seems a little afraid of Will these days, except for Mike.
(Or: Following a desperate ritual to cast the devil out of Hawkins, Will starts acting strangely. Mike starts having dreams.)

Summary
After dropping out of college, Mike Wheeler takes a job opening as a light-keeper. The town where the lighthouse stands is foggy and eerie. No one seems very welcoming to him other than the niece of the recently departed previous light-keeper—and the woman who offered Mike the job—Robin. However, even she seems off. As he settles into the small coastal town, Mike keeps noticing things, including the odd behavior of townsfolk as well as the many missing ones, and slowly he unwraps a mystery of razor-sharp scales and even sharper teeth.
Or:
"Maybe I'm just a little paranoid. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, and it's been a long day, so excuse me, but…is there anything I need to worry about? Anything or anyone to look out for? Be honest."
Robin thought for a moment, looking down at the ground, before speaking, "… just, don't stay out too late. There are coyotes that come out at night. You can hear them if you listen closely."
Mike reached into his pocket absentmindedly, feeling the folded up paper of the siren. He nodded. "Okay, thank you, then, Robin."
