Felix recently moved from Sydney to Seoul to study dance at the Korea National University of Arts. While his parents support him, they can’t afford to help him financially while his sisters are both still living at home. But Felix is determined to make it work. Felix locked the bathroom stall behind him with shaking fingers and slid to the floor, his feet bracketing the toilet and his head buried between his knees. Nevermind the grimy, cold tile beneath him. His heart was pounding, ricocheting in his chest painfully with each racing beat — one normal, then one skipped, off and on and off again. “Lixie, please answer. You’re scaring me.”
Felix put his phone face down on the bed and rolled over onto his stomach, muffling the feverish buzzing of his messages with a pillow. He imagined Chan's strong frame curled over his computer in the JYP building, up late working as always and waiting, worried, for him to reply. If he left, Chan wouldn’t have to concern himself over another problem. If he was gone, his hyung might even be happy, unburdened by another member who couldn't keep up. It was the best option, and certainly one his mates - Felix swallowed, swiping at his eyes - former mates deserved. What kind of person would place their own meaningless life over the brilliant joy and potential of others? Felix made up his mind. He wouldn’t hold them back anymore.
